This week in douchebaggery

The WSJ is running an article - front page - on how Dell's efforts to go carbon neutral are all smoke and mirrors. Why? Because Dell is only offsetting (by buying renewable energy and a reforestation plan) carbon emitted by their plants, offices, and delivery vehicles. The WSJ argues that they are neglecting the carbon emitted by the companies that supply them, and the electricity used by consumers to power their Dell computers.

Presumably, Dell should also offset carbon in the supply chain for the automakers that make their trucks and the shipping costs for anything bought on Amazon using a Dell computer. Although you can't account for the carbon involved in buying a Dell computer using another Dell computer, because that would cause a tear in the space-time continuum.

Didn't the WSJ used to be a reputable news source? What the hell happened?
