Embarrassing myself with the Kids In the Hall

A couple of weekends ago, I went to see the Upright Citizens Brigade doing a show with Rob Riggle, Rachel Dratch and Neil Patrick Harris. It was fucking hilarious. In between the first and second sets, Matt Walsh asked someone in the audience named "Dave Foley" if they had broken the record for number of guys masturbating in an improv scene.

After he said that, I thought to myself, "where have I heard that name before..." And then I realized, "Holy Crap! Dave Foley from Kids in the Hall is here!" I knew he was in San Francisco because they were performing twice that weekend, and I looked back and saw him and Kevin McDonald sitting in the back row. Right then I resolved to go up and meet them after the show.

After the show, which as I said was fucking hilarious, I raced out of the theater with a-team. Dave Foley was standing in the back with a beer in his hand, and I walked up and said, "Hi. I'm Jiggs Casey. I'm a huge fan of your work. Can I shake your hand?" and Foley said, "sure. Let me wipe my hand off." And I said, "No, Don't worry about it. Whatever it is, I want it." A-team was mortified and left me to my own devices.

Foley, however, was unfazed and we shook hands. I thanked him for his time, and asked if I had indeed saw Kevin with him. He said that not only was Kevin out in front of the theater, but so was Scott Thompson.

So I rushed outside, and A-team pointed him out to me. I walked up to him and said, "Kevin McDonald?" He was trying to look nondescript, and was surprised I said things.

Again I explained how I was a huge fan of the show and asked to shake his hand. Then I told him he was my favorite Kid in the Hall. He self-deprecatingly said, "I bet you said that to Dave as well." And I said, "No I didn't you're my favorite," and I pointed at A-team and said, "A-Team will verify it. You are my favorite."

A-Team was mortified again, but was too fascinated with the train wreck to leave.

I told him that I was going to see the Kids' two shows that weekend, and then explained that I was so nervous because I have a "talent crush on you." He said he could tell that, and then I thanked him again, and walked away.

Then right before I left, I saw Scott Thompson standing next to Kevin McDonald, and walked up to him and said, "Scott Thompson, I'm a big fan. Can I shake your hand?" and as we shook hands, I said, "I'm excited because I'm going to your shows this weekend." Kevin turned to him and said, "It's true, he is."

I was walking on air, and as I said before, it was the greatest embarrassment of my life!

You didn't embarrass yourself if you were able to walk away with dry pants.

I constantly embarrass myself in front of famous/ semi-famous people. It's what I do and I do it well. Might as well stick with it. It's kind of fun.
