History of the day for April 24

In 1645, paper was invented. 250 years later, scissors were invented, thus giving rise to the game rock-scissors-paper.

I love the Far Side cartoon where the cavemen are playing "rock" (neither opponent having been invented yet), and getting frustrated because of so many ties.

I use R-P-S to settle disputes in my classroom (over markers, seats, etc). It works like a charm, and you can't argue with R-P-S. You either win, or you don't. No arguing.

blast. you're right. I had forgotten about the farside comic!

sometimes we use RPS to decide who goes first in a board game. and we have used it for games with more than 2 people.
