History of the day for December 20

In 1943, Richard James invents the Slinky. Three years later he invents the escalator, reportedly because he "just had to know if it would really work."

Slinkys suck, I always get them bent and then they don't work right. Maybe they aren't supposed to be used in naughty ways. It's not like they come with instructions.

I hate it when you get all excited to use and escalator and you go running into the store to ride it and the damn thing is broke and you have to walk up it. What a rip-off!

The cool thing about escalators is that they never break. They just become stairs.

tumbleweed: I have a pretty good imagination, but I have no idea how a slinky could be used for naughtiness. It just seems like it would hurt.
